Around December of last year, a Thai IDD&E alum, Ms. Naowarat Bumrungchit invited me to join her teaching project. She runs one of the courses at “Thai Massive Open Online Course” or “Thai MOOC”. It is a government initiative to encourage lifelong learning culture in Thai people. There are 176 courses to choose from and they are available to all Thai citizens at no cost. Basic Principles of Instructional Design is the course Ms. Naowarat teaches. Her intention is to make knowledge in training design accessible to all, especially people who have become interested in our field. It is primarily about introduction to course design and ADDIE model in theory and practice. In the session that I joined, I talked about alignment of each of the ADDIE components and importance of an alternate concern between organizational culture and policies (which Dr.Pusch called “zoom out”) and elements in training design (which Dr. Pusch called “zoom in”). This is one of the many things I learned from the program that sticks with me and made me proud of our program. We both are grateful for the program. Thank you, IDD&E!
